COLLEGEPlayed four seasons at Wyoming … as a senior was named to the
1995 Western Athletic Conference First Team … averaged 14.4
points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.14 blocks in 28 games … ranked second
in the NCAA in blocks … twice named to the All-WAC Defensive
Team … finished his career with 425 blocked shots (tied for the
10th highest total in NCAA history) … his career average of 3.83
blocks per game is the 15th best in NCAA history … in his
freshman season averaged 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.0 minutes in
27 games.
CAREER NOTESTwice named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1999 and 2004)
… has led the league in blocked shots three times (in
2000–01, 2002–03 and 2003–04) … one of seven
players in NBA history to capture the blocked shots title three-or-more
times (others are: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Johnson, Mark Eaton,
Hakeem Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo and Marcus Camby) … was voted
the starting center for the 2001 NBA All-Star Game (missed the game due
to a stress fracture in his right wrist) … ranks 17th in NBA
history in career blocks (with 1,902) and is fi fth among active
players (behind Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan, Ben Wallace and
Marcus Camby) … is the last NBA player – and the only
active player – to record 300-or-more blocks in a single season
… accomplished the feat during the 2003–04 campaign when
he registered 300 blocks in 85 games (prior to Ratliff the last player
with 300-plus blocks was Dikembe Mutombo who had 332 blocks in 74 games
for Denver during the 1995–96 season) … in his 14-year NBA
career has appeared in 751 regular season games averaging 7.5 points,
5.9 rebounds and 2.53 blocks in 26.1 minutes … has seen action
in 39 playoff games averaging 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.72 blocks
